A verification desk for one purchase: gold in an IRA
Safe Gold IRA covers a single question: is the gold IRA you are being sold the real thing — and is the company selling it to you safe to deal with? The instrument itself is legal and governed by the Internal Revenue Code. The risk lives one layer up, in the sales pitch: hidden markups, "free" silver that is paid for out of your premium, coins an IRA should never hold, and the home-storage "loophole" that courts have dismantled. The desk exists because most of what is written about this online is written by the companies selling the metals — or by their competitors.
What this site is. An independent editorial publication. Every claim on every page is dated and sourced to a public record — an SEC press release or litigation release, a CFTC press release or advisory, an FTC rule or case file, a Tax Court opinion, an IRS publication, or the statute — and every page carries the month the record was last checked (currently October 2026). When a regulator publishes, the page changes with it.
What this site is not. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of the SEC, the CFTC, the FTC, the IRS, or any government agency, and we do not speak for them. We are not tax advisers, lawyers, or investment advisers, and no guide should be read as personal advice — where a question needs a licensed professional, the guides say so. We do not sell gold, we name no dealer as a paid recommendation, and we accept no payment from any company described on this site until that relationship is disclosed on the disclosure page.
The editor
Claire Donovan works from Columbus, OH. The method is the one described in her bio: read the primary record first — the enforcement release, the court opinion, the statute — date it, link it, then write. Corrections go through the contact page and are credited, including responses from companies named in the record. The editorial standards behind every guide are written down on the methodology page.
